The Faculty Council No. (586) was held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at ten o’clock in the morning in Prof. Dr. Al-Saeed Ashour Conference Hall, the council was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sherif Al-Badawy, the interim dean of the faculty, and in the presence of Prof. Dr., Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, heads of scientific departments, directors of specific programs, and a number of faculty members.
Professor Dr. Sherif Al-Badawy opened the session by welcoming the attendees, he offered words of condolences on the death of the brother of Prof. Dr. Muharram Fouad, Head of Public Works Engineering Department.
- He congratulated Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim for assuming the position of Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and praised the great achievements that have been made during his tenure as Dean of the faculty.
- He congratulated the newly appointed program directors and their deputies, the director of the Center for Engineering Studies, Research and Consulting and his two deputies. He also praised the performance and efforts of the previous directors.
-He mentioned the celebration that took place for Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim for assuming the position of Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, wishing him all success.
- He referred to the reception ceremony of the scientific departments for the students.
-He praised winning a number of awards in competitions by faculty students.
-He honored: the student Ahmed Mohamed Al-Desouki, Department of Computer Engineering and Information Systems for obtaining an award, his excellence in hacking information, and his positive role in relation to the university’s electronic website, Eng. Mahmoud Radhi, Department of Mathematics and engineering physics for his community participation and victory in the Leadership Preparation Forum, the student, Hazem Mahmoud for his victory in the sports bodybuilding championship, a student team from the production department for winning in a semi-automatic robot project for firefighting and rescue operations and winning first place out of 168 (35 universities), honoring Female students of the Faculty of Engineering who won first places in the university squash championship and the tennis championship for obtaining first and second places and a student team from the Computers and Systems Department that won in the Egyptian Software Competition.
-He spoke about the emergence of the faculty’s specializations in international rankings, which deserves appreciation.
- He informed the attendees about the grant offered by the Innovators Support Fund.
- He presented a number of activities that took place at the faculty, such as: a visit to the faculty by the School of Excellence, and holding (3)ISO training courses within the framework of the faculty obtaining (9) ISO certificates, and the faculty’s celebration of the opening of the Huawei competition, holding a symposium on the aluminum industry and its development, and holding a symposium about the Knowledge Bank.
-He urged activating the Academy of Scientific Research’s announcement regarding its funding for student projects.
-He explained that the door to apply for internal projects was opened to conduct scientific research for the year 2023/2024 through the faculty’s Scientific Research Support Unit.
- He announced the activation of the postgraduate studies platform.
- He spoke about the scholarship at Kyushu University in Japan, and the names of the students who won the scholarship.
- He briefed the attendees about the training program for foreign trainees, which includes faculty members, administrators, and technicians at other universities.
- He stated that the faculty is currently in the process of renewing accreditation, starting on Sunday, November 12, until Tuesday, November 14, and that the architecture program will be re-evaluated from Tuesday until Thursday (end of the current week).
- He presented the annual citations for the faculty’s scientific journal.
At the end of the presentation, Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Interim Dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedqi, Vice Dean of the faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and some of the heads of departments honored the students who won the competitions, whether scientific, sports, or community, by giving them certificates of appreciation. Then Prof. Sherif moved on to discuss the topics on the agenda and make decisions regarding them with the members of the esteemed faculty council.
