The Arizona Energy Excellence Agreement Delegation Visit

Within the framework of the Energy Excellence Agreement between Arizona State University in the United States of America and the Egyptian universities (Ain Shams, Mansoura and Aswan), Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, received the Energy Excellence Center delegation, which included Prof. Dr. Mustafa Marai, Technical Advisor to the Energy Excellence Center, Ms. Dalia El-Tayeb, Executive Director of the Center in Egypt, Ms. Rania Taher, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Center, on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024. The delegation was received at the office of the Dean of the Faculty, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Tawfiq, Director of the Energy Excellence Center and Assistant Technical Advisor to the Center. The meeting discussed ways of cooperation between the faculty and the center in enhancing the benefit from the services and opportunities provided by the center under the agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), including research projects and the fellowship program with Arizona State University for faculty members, as well as the student project funding program. The mechanism for the first-place winning team in the startup competition organized by the center during the period from October 2023 to February 2024 to compete with American startup companies during November 2024 was discussed. In addition to discussing the needs of the electric car laboratory that is currently being established through funding from the United States Agency for International Development under the agreement. This meeting was followed by an inspection tour of the solar energy laboratory by the delegation, and the reception of AP. Dr. Ahmed Eid, the laboratory supervisor, who explained the various student and research activities of the laboratory. After that, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Center of Excellence at the faculty, and then the tour concluded with a visit to the headquarters of the electric car laboratory in the programs building to see the latest developments regarding the supply of some devices in addition to determining the future needs of the laboratory.
