The Faculty of Engineering organized a workshop and exhibition on “ Integrated Coastal Installations with Wave Power Transformers”, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud, Dean of the Faculty, the leadership of: Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedqi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Amira Yassen, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, supervised by the Executive Administration of the Building and Construction Engineering Program, and organized by Dr. Reda Diab and Dr. Karim Nassar.
The exhibition presented an important topic in the field of renewable energy, that is using wave energy converters in coastal areas and how to benefit from them sustainably in generating clean energy. The benefits of using wave energy were also explained due to its environmental and economic benefits.

An online workshop was held entitled “Using Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research” under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, and the coordination, supervision, presence of Prof. Dr. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Supervisor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Control Systems, and Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul, Director of the Scientific Research Support Unit, lectured by Eng. Hadeer Al-Hilali, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Damietta University, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at seven in the evening.
The workshop targeted faculty members, associate staff members, and postgraduate students, with the number of attendees reaching about a hundred participants.
The workshop addressed the importance of artificial intelligence for researchers and the extent of its impact on scientific publishing and the quality of research submitted. The most important points addressed by the workshop were as follows:
• Definition of artificial intelligence and its importance.
• The most important AI search engines used and how to use them.
• How to use engines to collect data.
- How to reduce the quote.
- Writing references.
• Ethics of using artificial intelligence engines.
• Using artificial intelligence (pros & cons).
Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul expressed that the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities issued a special publication specifying the controls for the use of artificial intelligence in the scientific research process.
The meeting witnessed interaction from the attendees, expressing the importance of the workshop topic for scientific research.
In the end, Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul thanked Eng. Hadeer Hilali and all the participants.

Today, Monday, 25 December, 2023, Professor Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, interim Dean of Mansoura Engineering, hosted the distinguished scholar Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Damaty, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Western Ontario, Canada, and coordinator of the dual doctoral agreement between Mansoura Engineering and Western Engineering, with the participation of Professor Dr. Sahar Sedqy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Amira Yasin, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in the presence of the heads of scientific departments and specific programs, faculty members and assisting staff.
Professor Dr. Sherif El-Badawy began by introducing Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Damaty, speaking about the start date of the agreement and then its activation. Then, Prof. Dr. El-Damaty provided the attendees with a brief idea about Western University, he indicated that it is a Canadian public university founded in 1878 and is one of the oldest universities in Canada. It has 123 specializations, 12 colleges and 10 programs in the field of engineering. It is considered one of the best 15 universities in Canada and one of the best 100 universities in the world. Western University is distinguished by its quality of learning, scientific research, and academic reputation. It is one of the most distinguished research universities in Canada. The employment rate after graduation from the University of Western Ontario is 95.2%.
He has also clarified a number of topics, referring to the scholarships, courses and awards offered by Western University, the advantages of studying there, and the opportunities to find work immediately after graduating from Western University.
Finally, Professor Dr. El-Badawy accompanied Prof. Dr. El-Damaty, vice deans, and a number of faculty members on a tour of a number of the faculty’s laboratories, where Prof. El-Damaty praised the readiness of the faculty’s laboratories and the status of Mansoura University, which he is proud of and the academic level of its students, especially those he supervised.

The Egyptian Society for Environmental Sciences announces to all academics and researchers at home and abroad holding the eighth international conference under the title “Scientific Research and Sustainable Development,” which will be held at Suez Canal University in Ismailia on February 24, 2024 until February 25, which will include a large number of activities.
Accepted will be published in Caterina, the international journal of environmental sciences, which publishes research in English by the Egyptian Society for Environmental Sciences. Caterina publishes research works covering all aspects of ecology and environmental sciences in relation to the evaluation, use and conservation of natural resources.

The interviews witnessed diversity and modernity in the ideas presented.
The committee members praised the outstanding level of the faculty members applying for the project.

Within the framework of the Faculty of Engineering’s keenness to enrich scientific research and support faculty staff members in obtaining internal funded projects, on Sunday, 31/12/2023 under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Al-Badawi, interim Dean of the Faculty, and Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, organization of Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul - Director of the Scientific Research Support Unit, second day interviews, internal funded project- the second call for the academic year 2023/2024, took place in Pioneers Hall - the administrative building.
The arbitration was conducted by a committee composed of professors:

Professors participating in the first call gave a detailed presentation on the results of the projects which were submitted, they mainly aim to use clean energy and recycled materials that avoid environmental pollution. The topics revolved around the consumption of solar energy in charging electric cars, desalination, water disinfection and recycling of butamine used in road paving to improve road efficiency as well as using potential energy to light roads, this aims to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030 and achieve sustainable development.
The meetings took place inside the hall, and professors on scholarship outside Egypt were also met via the Internet, from Hong Kong and Russia, in order to enrich scientific research in cooperation with foreign universities.
Professors, members of the judging committee, expressed the competence and excellence of the applicants for the projects.
The meetings have witnessed various participations from different departments in the Faculty of Engineering.

The Robo Soccer competition was held for the third consecutive year on Saturday and Monday, 23&25/12/2023, at the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University. The competition aims to make the most of the learning outcomes in robotics control courses through student projects to link the theoretical aspect with the practical one and bridge the gap between study and labor market, which also aims to improve teamwork and personal skills. First-year students, Computer and Control Systems Engineering Department, second-year students, Mechanical Power Engineering Department, fourth-year students, Production Engineering Department, and (level 200) students, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and Medical Engineering programs participated in the competition.

Today, Thursday, December 21, 2023, the activities of the third and final day of the International Middle East Power Systems Conference 2023 began, (35) scientific researches were presented and discussed. The closing meeting of the conference began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Akram El Metwally, President of the Conference, where briefed the audience about the conference’s activities and the important events that took place in it, Prof. Dr. Mazen Abdel Salam, a representative of the conference’s permanent committee, spoke about the success of the conference’s organizing committee and the effective participation of all attendees. Then Prof. Dr. Sherif Al-Badawi, interim dean of the faculty and vice dean for postgraduate studies and research delivered a speech where he expressed his sincere appreciation to all esteemed attendees, the organizers of the conference, and his gratitude for everyone carrying out their assigned roles, wishing all success and prosperity.
At the end professors who participated in the conference were honored. All participants in the conference were also honored; whether faculty members, assisting staff, members of the administrative staff, and workers.
