Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received members of the committee for selecting the best green (environmentally friendly) university affiliated with the Supreme Council of Universities, where he presented the efforts and research made by Mansoura University in the field of renewable energy, preserving the environment, and using clean energy to reduce carbon emissions that pollute the environment, and paying attention to climate issues.
Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, accompanied the visiting delegation on an inspection tour to the Faculty of Engineering and a number of distinguished faculties and centers at the university, in the presence and participation of Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Students Affairs, Prof. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a group of faculty members, where the visiting delegation inspected a number of laboratories, workshops, centers and student projects, which play a major role in providing innovative solutions to the outside community, especially in the field of energy and reducing emissions and pollution. During the delegation’s inspection tour, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim pointed out that Mansoura University is always interested in becoming a sustainable, environmentally friendly university in its research and academic fields, and that the Faculty of Engineering implements its vision and mission in accordance with the university’s vision and mission, and both implement their vision and mission in accordance with the sustainable plan of the Egyptian state 2030. Then, Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy confirmed that the Faculty of Engineering always works to enhance environmental sustainability in the field of education and scientific research and works to exchange experiences with the largest international universities such as the University of Arizona in the United States. Awareness seminars are also held periodically on climate change, waste management and recycling, and water and energy management.
