Today, Monday, November 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of the Huawei competition took place in Prof. Dr. Magdy Abu Rayan Hall at the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University. The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, who confirmed to his students and the attendees, his readiness to provide full support and guidance needed. His Excellency congratulated Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud on assuming the position of Acting Dean of the Faculty. He has also thanked Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedqi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, for her outstanding performance, congratulated AP. Dr. Abeer Tawakkol for the successes achieved, especially the prizes in the global Huawei competitions, and the Huawei work team at the faculty, Huawei company officials, and to academy’s students, wishing them more successes and achievements in the future.
Then Dr. Abeer Tawakkol, Director of the Huawei Academy at the Faculty of Engineering, welcomed the attendees, and thanked the students of the Huawei Academy for the prizes they achieved in the competition during the past year, where they achieved second place in the world in networks, third place in the field of networking, The world in cloud computing, the student Ameer Shtayeh (Faculty of Engineering), student Christina (Faculty of Computers and Information) who achieved third place. She also thanked the faculty administration for supporting and agreeing that training at the academy is tantamount to external training. She has also mentioned that the academy will be working on training in new fields.
After that, Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud Al-Badawi, the interim Dean of the Faculty extended his thanks and appreciation to all attendees. He mentioned that there is a cooperation protocol between the faculty and Huawei Academy, according to which the students of Huawei Academy are trained and supported both financially and morally by the faculty and the Academy together, in order to link working with academic studies to bridge the gap between them by acquiring students distinguished skills in order to keep pace with the local, regional and even global labor market, because the preference in choosing to enter the labor market is given to the person with the skills, and it was also stressed that the faculty is ready to provide full support to students.
Eng. Amani Sayed Farouk, a member of the ITB work team, spoke, where she explained: What is Huawei Academy, its areas of work, its strategy for building students’ capabilities, and how to apply for it.
Eng. Asmaa Siraj, Executive Secretary of Huawei ITB, spoke, praising the awards achieved. In the future, it aims to establish many academies that will conduct continuous training for their students, then hold competitions for them, award certificates and prizes to the winners, followed by providing job opportunities for the winners. This is because Huawei Academy has connections with international companies.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud Al-Badawi, interim Dean of the Faculty, AP.
