The UNESCO organization announces the opening of nominations for the 2026 UNESCO – King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technology in Education. This year's theme is "Rethinking Creativity and Critical Thinking Using Artificial Intelligence."
The prize targets projects and initiatives that show how teachers and learners interact with AI systems in ways that preserve their ability to think, excel, and imagine. It rewards evidence-based practices that boost human creativity and address the potential negative impacts of AI on mental abilities across all education levels.

Two winners will be selected, each receiving a cash prize of $25,000 USD.

Note that the organization's final deadline is May 8, 2026, to allow time for the National Commission to review nominations. Please complete the application form in English or French by April 25, 2026, and submit the following documents to the National Commission by April 26, 2026:
- A summary of the submitted project.
- A copy of the completed electronic application form.
- Proof that the project has been active and ongoing for at least one year.
- A statement confirming the project has not previously received UNESCO funding.
- Confirmation that any digital tools used (if applicable) provide unrestricted, free access for users.
- A nomination letter from the nominating entity addressed to Prof. Dr., Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO.
All documents should be sent to the National Commission via email (below). Nominations received after the deadline or not meeting the requirements will not be considered.
