A Medical Symposium about How to Prevent Oral and Dental Diseases

The Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, organized a medical symposium on Tuesday 11,1,2022, entitled "How to Prevent Oral and Dental Diseases", under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meligy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the leadership of both Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Yasser Lotfy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. The symposium was under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development and Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Gad Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Community Service and Environmental Development. The symposium began with a welcoming word by Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean of the Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamdy, explained several cases related to dental health, whether for infants, children or adults, stressing that prevention is better and easier than dental diseases and then treatment. Therefore the correct medical instructions must be applied, he explained how to eliminate dental plaque, the different toothbrush shapes, appropriate ones for each specific case, the different types of toothpaste and how to choose the appropriate one. He also explained how not to create a suitable environment for caries and how to avoid reaching the stage of dental erosion. The Q & A session was highly informative where lecturers answered all the questions of the attendees. Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Gad emphasized that patient should be frank and disclose to the treating dentist if he suffers from high blood pressure, high blood sugar or liver disease so that the treating doctor takes his medical precautions.
