Report on Faculty Council Meeting No. (611)

The Faculty Council Meeting No. (611) was held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty Council Meeting Hall, under the chairmanship of Prof. Sherif Massoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty. The meeting was attended by the Vice Deans, Heads of Academic Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, several emeritus professors, and representatives from external community institutions.

Prof. Sherif El-Badawy opened the session by:
- Welcoming all attendees and emphasizing the importance of announcing the full coursework results well in advance of the start of the final examinations for the first semester.
- Noting that organizational workshops would be held by the Legal Affairs Department for administrative staff to familiarize them with the rules and procedures to be followed during the exam period.
- Offering condolences for the passing of the distinguished scholars Prof. Charles Shoukry, Emeritus Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering and former Operations Manager of the High Dam Project, and Prof. Emad El-Beltagy, Professor of Project Management in the Structural Engineering Department, as well as all members of the faculty community who had passed away recently, praying for their mercy and forgiveness.
- Extending congratulations to:
- Prof. Ayman El-Tahrany for the renewal of his appointment as Head of the Structural Engineering Department.
- Prof. Mohamed El-Tantawy El-Maddawy (Structural Engineering),
- Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Gar El-Alam (Public Works Engineering), and
- Prof. Walid Metwally El-Saqqely (Structural Engineering) on their promotion to professorship.
- Congratulating the Faculty on the newly released Shanghai International Ranking, which highlighted remarkable progress in several engineering fields.
- Commending faculty members who have been selected among the scientific reviewers for the 15th promotion cycle (2025–2028), for the evaluation of professorship and associate professorship research works.
- Congratulating Prof. Abdo Abdel Fattah (Production and Mechanical Design Engineering) for his selection to the Specialized Scientific Committee for Mechanical Engineering evaluating academic ranks for military officers applying for “Assistant Research Professor” and “Research Professor.”
- Congratulating Associate Professor Abeer Tawakkol on her appointment as Director of the University’s E-Testing Center.
- Congratulating Associate Professor Doaa Adel on her appointment as Deputy Director of the University’s AI Center for Medical Research.
- Expressing appreciation to Professor Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, for recent community activities including: the preparatory meeting for a safe evacuation drill, the “You Are Stronger Than Drugs” awareness campaign, and the reception of several school visits.
- Referring to the training workshop on implementing ISO 9001 international quality management requirements recently organized by the Faculty.
- Discussing the international accreditation plan for the engineering laboratories through the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC).
- Announcing the call launched by the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) in collaboration with the European Union (EU) for the second round of the “Long-Term EU–Africa Partnership for Research and Innovation in Sustainable Energy”.
- Reviewing outcomes of meetings held between the Faculty Administration and the Assistant Teaching Staff, as well as the monthly meeting with student team leaders.
- Expressing pride in the outstanding achievements of the Faculty’s student teams in the 28th African and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship and in the Rally Competition.
- Congratulating Researcher Ahmed El-Kassas, Assistant Lecturer in Computer Engineering and Control Systems, for winning the John M. Hutchens Award for Outstanding Thesis.
- Noting the Faculty’s reception of the Government Excellence Evaluation Committee on December 9–10, 2025.
- Acknowledging the Faculty’s participation in the University Theatrical Festival (2025–2026).
- Mentioning the Scientific Day events organized by the Structural Engineering Department and the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department.
- Congratulating the Faculty Handball Team for achieving second place at the university level.
- Congratulating the winning student teams of the second edition of the “Startup Missiles Competition”, organized by the University Career Development Centers.
- Noting the scientific and cultural trips organized for students of the Electrical Engineering Department in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Program, and joint visits by the Student Union, Architecture Department, and Sustainable Architecture Program to the Egyptian Museum and archaeological sites.
- Highlighting the Simulink Onramp Party event organized in cooperation with MathWorks International.
- Congratulating the CyberEgypt Team for achieving third place in the “DIGITOPIA 2025” competition, launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
- Noting the transfer of machines and equipment from the Textile Center of Cairo University (Sheikh Zayed Branch) to the Faculty.
- Congratulating students who won the Ideal Student Competition for the academic year 2025/2026.
- Reporting the organization and optimization of equipment in the Fab Lab to enhance educational and research performance.
- Presenting the annual citation metrics of the Faculty’s Scientific Journal.
- Announcing the honoring of the Government Excellence Team by the Dean and Vice Deans in appreciation of their efforts during the on-site evaluation visit, along with the recognition of students who won in DIGITOPIA 2025.

At the conclusion of the presentation, the Dean moved on to discuss the agenda items and approved decisions accordingly with the esteemed members of the Faculty Council.
