A Report on the Faculty Council No. (599)
The Faculty Council No. 599 convened on December 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Faculty Council meeting hall, led by Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, the Dean.
Attendees included faculty deans, department heads, program directors, emeritus professors and external community representatives.
The session commenced with a welcome from Prof. El-Badawy, who emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming first semester exams and discussed the organization of the examination process.
He expressed condolences for recent losses within the faculty community.
He highlighted student activities, such as scientific and tourist trips, which foster cultural appreciation and strengthen students’ sense of belonging.
Additionally, he congratulated faculty members on their promotions and new administrative roles.
Prof. El-Badawy, congratulated student Ali Ismail for winning the presidency of the university students’ union, student Mohamed Ragaey for becoming the president of the faculty students’ union, and student Mohamed El-Fajjal for being elected vice president of the faculty union.
He praised the community activities within the faculty, including visits of the STEM School in Dakahlia and Al shaheed Ahmed Ibrahim Language School in Talkha.
Additionally, four meetings were held focusing on: Building Capacities of assisting staff members, Professionalism in Writing Research Papers, and Rights and Obligations of the assisting staff under University and Civil Service Laws.
He praised the Energy Day of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Program and commended the student trip from the Department of Mechanics and the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Program to the Al-Karimat Solar Power Plant.
He presented the Shanghai classification, highlighting changes in specific specializations between 2023 and 2024.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude and pride for his students’ achievements, particularly their success in winning first places in various competitions, including innovation in environmentally friendly materials and the Genius League Scientific Competition at the university level.
Prof. El- Badawy, congratulated the faculty members and students who have won or are eligible for funding from the Energy Center of Excellence to support graduation projects in the energy field for the academic year 2024/2025.
He also congratulated faculty members from various specializations selected for a travel program to spend a semester at the University of Arizona, USA.
Additionally, he mentioned the organization of a training program for advisors for the second time. Furthermore, he noted that the Faculty of Engineering is arranging a scientific trip for several faculty members to the University of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, USA.
Prof. El-Badawy, mentioned the welcome day that took place at the Nile Club for Mansoura Engineering international students.
He encouraged participation in the Misr El Kheir Foundation’s graduation projects support program.
He highlighted various faculty activities, including the Genius Competition, the Mastery of Work Symposium, and the Scientific Day for the Architecture Department. Additionally, he discussed the Joint International Scientific Publishing Award for Arab Researchers and briefed attendees on the university’s examination regulations and rewards. He also mentioned a cooperation agreement signed between Mansoura University and the University of Cologne in Germany.
Prof. El- Badawy, discussed the recent activities involving the Chinese delegation at Mansoura University, highlighting their visit to various laboratories.
He also mentioned a competition in the Civil Engineering Department focused on designing paper bridges capable of supporting specific weights. Furthermore, he elaborated on the citation metrics of a scientific journal, including total research output and downloads.
Following this, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mustafa presented details on faculty exchange programs, research projects, student funding initiatives, and summer training in energy, before addressing agenda topics with the faculty council members.
