The Faculty Council No. (575) was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, with the honor of the presence of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, where he presided over the Faculty Council, with the utmost welcome, the greatest appreciation, the highest meanings and words of thanks from Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim to his Excellency, in the presence of: Vice deans, heads of scientific departments, directors of specific programs, and representatives of some institutions of the external community.
The session was opened by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Dean of the Faculty, where his Excellency:
- Started the meeting by welcoming Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, for honoring the faculty by attending and participating in the Faculty Council, in addition to offering sincere congratulations and good wishes to him on the occasion of the Republican decision to appoint him as President of Mansoura University. He also welcomed all the attending members of the Faculty Council.
-Gave words of lamentation for the death of Anba Dawoud, Bishop of Mansoura, Prof. Dr. Jabr Abdel Salam, Professor of Electrical Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Omar Al Shehabi, Former Dean of the Faculty of Science.
- Congratulated some faculty members for promotion, namely: Associate Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abdel-Aal, Department of Structural Engineering, Associate Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ashour, Department of Electronics and Communications, and Associate Prof. Dr. Yehia Mahmoud, Department of Mechanical Power Engineering.
- Congratulated, the student / Ali Ismail for being selected as the president of the University Union, the student / Abd al-Rahman Reda for being selected as the president of the Faculty Union, and the student / Sarah Magdy for being selected the ideal student for the academic year 2022-2023.
- In continuation of the series of honoring the deans of the faculty from 1974 until 2018, his excellency praised the work of all the previous deans.
-Honored Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Saeed, the former dean of the faculty, he was given a shield as a gift. A later date was set for those who will be honored later from among the former deans, based on their wish.
- Presented the most important events that took place in his three meetings with, assistant professors, lecturers, and members of the supporting staff.
- Presented the most important instructions given during his meeting with the batch coordinators.
- Explained what happened regarding the visit of a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering to the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
- Mentioned some of what has happened in the faculty to strengthen social relations, such as his Eminence's breakfast with the Center for Studies, and this is on the approach of what happened in the past with the support services personnel and then with the administrative staff.
- Talked about what happened regarding the ideal student competition, and the results achieved to ensure quality and that the slogan of obtaining the first place is worth a lot.
- Explained the beginning of the faculty magazine since 1975 and the huge boom that occurred in it in the recent period, starting in 2019.
- Explained the implementation of the rights = duties platform, and this is something that requires a lot of patience, support and silence, as his sovereignty explained the protocol for discussing scientific theses.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, concluded the introduction to the meeting by offering kind words and expressing what he carries of good feelings and great positive attitudes towards the Faculty of Engineering represented by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Dean of the Faculty, its deputies, its great professors, and the houses of expertise that it possesse, such as the Center for Studies, then Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Dean of the Faculty, presented the shield of the faculty congratulating and honoring his choice as President of Mansoura University.
Later, His Excellency moved to discuss the topics on the agenda and took decisions regarding them with the members of the esteemed Faculty Council.
