Faculty Council No. 617

 The Faculty Council (No. 617) met on Monday, 15 June 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty Council Hall, chaired by Prof. Sherif Massoud El‑Badawy, with Vice Deans, department heads, program directors, faculty members, and external community representatives in attendance.
Key points and announcements:
• The Dean thanked staff for their commitment and discipline during the examination period.
• Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Mohamed Atiya Mohamed Abdelrahman on his appointment as interim Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
• Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Mohamed El‑Halwany on his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Mansoura National University.
• Emphasis on maintaining calm and discipline in the interest of students, in line with university rules.
• Congratulations to the VUE team for winning first place at the Industry Innovators Hackathon (Creativa Hub Benha).
• Recognition of Assoc. Prof. Asmaa El‑Awady and Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Sabry Saraya for supporting students Ziad Mohamed El‑Saeed and Mohamed Wagdy Khalaf in qualifying for the ICC competition.
• Special recognition for Assoc. Prof. Abeer Twakol for training teams and representing the university at the World Summit on AI‑Powered Educational Transformation 2026.
• Celebration of student Mohamed Salah El‑Din Abu El‑Kheir (4th year, AI Engineering) for winning the grand prize and first place globally in the Cloud Computing track of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026.
• Report on participation in the iWater summer school at Ain Shams University, strengthening Egyptian–German cooperation in integrated water resources management.
• Launch of “Mansoura Engineering through Its Students’ Eyes” student initiative to support photography, editing, and content creation.
• Several student graduation projects were accepted into the “Graduation Project Alliances – My Project, My Start 2026” initiative by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
• Units were urged to submit their annual activity reports promptly.
• Announcement that the faculty’s engineering journal gained its first global ranking (Q4) after Scopus indexing in November 2025, with increased visibility online and on social media.
• Updates on ongoing work to improve the faculty’s visual identity and overall campus appearance.
• Honors presented to Assoc. Prof. Abeer Twakol, student Mohamed Salah El‑Din Abu El‑Kheir, and Assoc. Prof. Asmaa El‑Awady for their outstanding contributions.
The meeting proceeded to discuss agenda items and take decisions accordingly.
