Report on Faculty Council Meeting No. (613)

 In line with ongoing efforts to monitor operations and ensure smooth progress in teaching and research activities, the 613th meeting of the Faculty of Engineering Council at Mansoura University took place on the morning of Monday, February 16, 2026. It was chaired by Prof. Sherif Massoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by the Vice Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, a number of emeritus faculty members, and representatives from the external community.

The Dean opened the session by congratulating all faculty staff on the Faculty's win of first place in the Egypt Award for Government Excellence in the category of government faculties—for the second year running. He praised the exceptional efforts of the excellence team, led by Assoc. Prof. Bishoy El-Kiss, Director of the Excellence and Future Foresight Center, and stressed that this achievement stemmed from collective work involving faculty members, supporting staff, and the administrative apparatus.

The Council extended congratulations to several faculty and supporting staff members on their promotions and new leadership roles, including:

- Prof. Osama El-Saeed Abdel-Moneim, promoted to Professor in the Structural Engineering Department.
- Assoc. Prof. Mona Ahmed Samy, promoted to Associate Professor in the Mathematics and Engineering Physics Department.
- Assoc. Prof. Rehab Abdel-Khalek, promoted to Associate Professor in the Textile Engineering Department.
- Assoc. Prof. Islam Ismail, appointed Director of the Mechatronics Engineering Program.
- Assoc. Prof. Atta Allah Atta Allah Mohamed, appointed Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program.
- Dr. Aya Hamed Abu El-Naga, appointed Deputy Director of the Strategic Foresight Unit.
- Dr. Zeinab Mohamed Hassan, appointed Director of the Technology Services and Maintenance Unit.
⁃ Eng. Osama Hassan, appointed Director of the Crises and Disasters Unit.
- Eng. Abdel-Rahman Omar Ali, appointed Deputy Director of the Strategic Foresight Unit.
- Eng. Mohamed El-Meadawy Ibrahim, appointed Director of the Information Technology Unit.
⁃ Eng. Ahmed Samir Jardouh, appointed Director of the Safety and Occupational Health Unit.

Prof. El-Badawy also expressed thanks and appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Osama Hamed and Dr. Mohamed El-Johari for their dedicated efforts during their tenure managing the Mechatronics Program and the Maintenance Unit.

The Council commended the outstanding performance of Faculty students at international and local events, highlighted by:

- A world-class achievement with an Egyptian touch in Rome, through an innovative water desalination project supervised by Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Rajab El-Marghany.
- The ReVolvix team's third-place win in the One Circle ICT Reboot Ideathon 2026 competition.
- The Mansoura SWUGN team's receipt of the best global community event award for organizing the SOLIDWORKS 30 Years celebration.
- Qualification of three Faculty teams for the finals of the Hult Prize competition.
- Student Hamza Abu El-Khair's first-place win in the EO’s GSEA 2026 entrepreneurship competition.

The Council then reviewed several research and academic files, including:

- An invitation to apply for Mobility Projects under the Egyptian-French "Imhotep" program.
- Publication of a pioneering international study in Urban Science journal, in collaboration with the University of Cologne in Germany.
- Renewal of the contract between the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Lab and the General Authority for Educational Buildings.
- Transfer of advanced equipment for textile workshops from Cairo University to boost training and productivity at the Faculty.

The Council also examined reports on recent events, most notably the first AI Summit Week, "Energy Day" by the Renewable Energy Engineering Program, the Industrial Advisory Council meeting, and a successful safe evacuation drill conducted at the Faculty.

At the conclusion of the presentations, the Dean and Vice Deans honored:

- Ms. Amhan Mansour, upon reaching retirement age, in recognition of her contributions.
- Assoc. Prof. Osama Hamed and Assoc. Prof. Islam Ismail, in appreciation of their efforts in managing specialized programs during the previous period.

The Council wrapped up its proceedings by discussing the agenda items and taking necessary decisions.
