Report on Faculty Council Meeting No. (612)

 Faculty Council Meeting No. (612) was held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty Council meeting room. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sherif Massoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by the Faculty Vice Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, a number of emeritus faculty members, and representatives from external institutions representing the community.

Prof. Sherif El-Badawy opened the session by:
- Congratulating the Faculty Excellence Team on the Faculty securing first place in internal excellence.
- Congratulating the Faculty on the achievements of its teams: first place for Team (AI Kids) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Abeer Twakul; second place for Team (Research Excellence Pioneers) under the supervision of Dr. Mostafa El-Bahloul; third place for Team (Imprint) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Mona Abu El-Ezz in the work teams category – Career Development Centers for the Student Affairs and Education Sector; first place for best Internal Excellence Director award to Mr. Ahmed Abu El-Khair; recognition of Ms. Marwa Abdel-Ghany as a member of the evaluation team; and the Engineering Studies and Consultations Center and Technical Services Center earning (6) ISO certificates: ISO 9001 in Quality Management, ISO 10002 in Customer Satisfaction Measurement and Complaints Follow-up, and ISO 21500 in Project Management. The certificates were received by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Atiya, Director of the Studies Center, and Dr. Mahmoud Saad, Director of the Services Center.
- Praising the outstanding role of Assoc. Prof. Bishoy Elkis, Director of the University Excellence and Future Foresight Center, and Teaching Assistant Abdel Rahman Omar, Faculty Excellence Coordinator, for their clear and tangible performance in securing the Faculty's first place in university internal excellence, along with all Faculty staff.
- Congratulating everyone present on Christmas and the Isra and Mi'raj holiday.
- Offering condolences to those who lost loved ones from the Faculty or their families.
- Congratulating the promotions of: Prof. Dr. Reham Mohsen Ez El-Din to Professor in Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Medhat Ahmed Shaaban Samra to Associate Professor in Architectural Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Hussein El-Shafei to Associate Professor in Production and Mechanical Design Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Ghany Shouman to Associate Professor in Mechanical Power Engineering.
- Congratulating the appointments of: Dr. Ahmed Sameh as Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit; Assoc. Prof. Asmaa Ali El-Awady as Director of the Energy Excellence Center.
- Congratulating the distinguished student awards: selection of 7 Faculty students among the world's top SOLIDWORKS designers; Team Cloud v 2.2.2 winning the Most Innovative Award at the North Africa level; Team College of Engineering (CURAX) winning first place in Delta City Hackathon – Egypt Cities Hackathon; congratulations and pride to student Hamza Abu El-Khair from Computer and Communications Engineering program, founder of the "Lothgha" app, for joining the Forbes Middle East 30 Under 30 – Social Impact, Sports & Lifestyle list for 2025, which includes the region's most influential young talents (December 25, 2025); and students who won in the cultural league and public speaking categories.
- Discussing the educational and cultural trip for the Artificial Intelligence Engineering program to the Pyramids, Sphinx, and Grand Egyptian Museum; meetings regarding exam work for assistant staff and administrative apparatus members; opening of the Sustainable Architectural Design 1 project exhibition for level 300 students in the program; and the Faculty's plan for international accreditation of service labs from the National Authority for Accreditation (EGAC).
- Noting the 12th Scientific Conference of the Structural Engineering Department.
- Stressing the need for serious attention to the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, which is launching the second round of the "Together" initiative to support innovation and research-based manufacturing.
- Announcing the RESPECT program – third round for the year.
- Clarifying the annual citation procedures for the Faculty's scientific journal.

At the end of the presentation, the dean moved to discuss the agenda items and make decisions on them with the esteemed Faculty Council members.
