Congratulations to Researcher Ahmed El‑Kassas on a Prestigious International Award

Researcher Ahmed El‑Kassas, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Control Systems, Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, has been awarded the “John M. Houchens Prize for Outstanding Dissertation” for the best PhD dissertation submitted to the J.B. Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville, USA, for the year 2025.

This success comes within the framework of the active scientific cooperation agreement between Mansoura University and the University of Louisville, which supports internationalization and joint scientific supervision programs between the two institutions. The dissertation was completed under the supervision of Prof. Adel El‑Maghraby and Prof. Ayman El‑Baz, underscoring the depth and effectiveness of the collaborative research links between the two sides.

The dissertation focused on the development of trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) systems with real clinical impact, with particular emphasis on explainable AI (XAI) and radiomics applications in medical imaging, aiming to support diagnostic accuracy and improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients.

The Faculty of Engineering affirms that this distinguished accomplishment reflects the high caliber of its academic staff and their ability to contribute to cutting‑edge global research, and aligns with the university’s vision of promoting innovation and international collaboration in priority research areas.
