Activities of the Meeting Session of the College Council No. (563)
The Faculty Council No. (563) met on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10 a.m., in the hall of Prof. Dr. / Al-Saeed Ashour.
◦ Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering chaired the session. This was in the presence of the Vice-Deans of the faculty, heads of faculty departments, managers of specific programs, experts, and some officials of external community bodies.
◦ At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed all the attendees, members of the Council, and then extended words of thanks to all the employees of the Faculty of Engineering for their sincerity and the excellence of their work.
◦ His Excellency congratulated Prof. Dr. Al-Shafei Bedir Mahmoud, Department of Mechanical Power Engineering, Assistant Prof. Dr. Ali Atef Youssef, Department of Irrigation and Hydraulics and Assistant Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abu Al-Anwar, Department of Mechanical Power Electrical engineering for the promotion.
◦ His Excellency mentioned what happened in the scientific conference held by the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering.
◦ His Excellency praised the excellence of the electronic exams experience that took place at the Faculty ’s Electronic Test Center, due to its positive impact.
◦ His Excellency gave a brief idea about the participation of the Faculty of Engineering in the National Strategy Conference to Confront Climate Changes until 2050 and Energy Transition in Egypt: from Glasgow to Sharm El Sheikh, Prof. Dr. Galal Othman, Professor of Renewable Energy Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Vice President of the World Wind Energy Association represented the faculty in this conference.
His Excellency presented a final report on quality work during the months of November/December 2021, as well as the external visits to the faculty programs. Ali Ismail, the President of the Student Union of the faculty and his deputy , Mahmoud El-Khouly, attended the council meeting Prof. Dr. Abdel Azim offered words of encouragement and motivation to them.
His Excellency spoke about the projects of the fifth phase that are being carried out in the faculty, as the construction of the following laboratories is underway: Heavy Facilities Factory (Structural Engineering Department), Roads and Airports Factory (Public Works Department) ), Internet of Things lab (Computer Engineering Department), Integrated Optics Lab (Physics Engineering Department), Water Quality Control Lab (Chemistry Engineering Department), Solar Energy Lab (Electrical Engineering Department), Satellite Lab (Communications Engineering Department), Wireless Communications Lab (Department of Communications Engineering), Transportation and Traffic Laboratory (Department of Public Works Engineering), Systems Dynamics and Vibrations Laboratory (Department of Production and Design Engineering)
His Excellency mentioned the projects that will also be developed during this phase, namely: the headquarters of the Graduate Studies Department, the headquarters of the Department of Cultural Relations, the headquarters of the Scientific Journal, the headquarters of the Engineering Studies Unit for the issuance of licenses, and the headquarters of the Research Office.
His Excellency stressed the importance of applying for funded research projects. Prof. Abdel Azim urged faculty members to apply for various awards, as the Faculty of Engineering has great experienced professors.
His Excellency emphasized the necessity of maximizing the use of faculty laboratories after developing and equipping them. His Excellency put forward a proposal which was discussed in the council; the proposal suggests the presence of a faculty member in the lab supported by a research team to do a research project. This proposal was put forward, especially after the completion of the basic infrastructure and the readiness of the laboratories to conduct any research.
Prof . Dr. Abdel Azim assigned Prof. Dr. / Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development the task of redistributing holders of a Bachelor of Engineering, Science, masters and doctorate holders to work in the appropriate places in the college according to their specializations.
He also emphasized the necessity of continuous training for all employees of the Faculty of Engineering.
