The award is presented by the International Water Resources Association (IWRA). This prestigious award honors experts who have excelled in linking public policies with scientific foundations in water resources management and climate fields.
This achievement is a historic national milestone for Egypt, as Dr. Hassan joins the distinguished list of Egyptian scientists who previously received this international recognition, including the late environmentalist Dr. Mostafa Kamal Tolba (1988) and the esteemed water expert Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zeid (2008). Dr. Hassan’s win revives Egypt’s presence on the global honor stage in water management after more than two decades.

Dr. Hassan Tolba Aboelnaga graduated from the Civil Engineering Department, Mansoura University. He holds a master's degree in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) from TH Köln University in Germany and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Kassel, Germany. He is considered one of the prominent young Egyptian experts in water and climate policy, with significant international contributions combining scientific research and decision-making.

The Faculty of Engineering highly values Dr. Hassan’s pioneering efforts in collaboration with Mansoura University to establish Egypt’s first multidisciplinary master's program in integrated water resources management, in partnership with Cologne University of Applied Sciences and Ain Shams University. This program represents a qualitative leap in linking higher education and research with national labor market needs and supports sustainable development goals in Egypt and the Arab region.
