Report on the Faculty Council Meeting No. (605)
The Faculty Council Meeting No. (605) was held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the College Council Meeting Room, under the chairmanship of Prof. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty. The meeting was attended by the College Vice Deans, Heads of Academic Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, and a number of emeritus professors.
Prof. El-Badawy opened the session by:
- Commending the seriousness and commitment observed during the examination period, and addressing some guidelines that must be observed and adhered to regarding the announcement of examination results.
- Offering condolences to those members of the college community who had lost loved ones, mentioning each by name.
- Discussing the outcomes and objectives of the recent meeting held with the administrative staff.
- Presenting a report on the follow-up of the Solid Works examinations.
- Expressing gratitude to Prof. Ayman El-Tohrani, Head of the Structural Engineering Department, for organizing the scientific seminar with Madaniya Iron and Steel Company, and announcing that a cooperation protocol would be established between the college and this company.
- Reporting on the visit of a delegation from Huawei to the College of Engineering, and giving the floor to Assoc. Prof. Mahmoud Saafan, Director of Entilaq Company, who explained the importance of this visit for the training and education of faculty members, teaching assistants, and students, as well as its impact on the curricula, especially the practical training and tutorials.
- Highlighting the activities of the Delta Region Universities Summit for Sustainable Development: From Challenge to Launch, and inviting all attendees to the opening session in Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan Hall, as well as to the workshops that will be held at the college on the sidelines of the summit.
- Urging the importance of applying for the Mohamed Rabie Award for Scientific Research in its eighth edition for the year 2025.
- Announcing the college’s intention to organize the "Excellence Award Competition for Teaching Assistants" for those who demonstrate outstanding contributions in teaching, research, supervision, or community engagement, as well as the "Outstanding Department/Program Award in Student Activities" for the department or program that demonstrates the best performance in supporting and implementing student activities throughout the year in terms of engagement, initiative, and impact.
- Clarifying the annual citation metrics of the college journal, including the total number of published papers and the total number of downloads.
- Conducting several recognitions, including honoring Assoc. Prof. Mohamed El-Saeed Rizk for his tenure as Acting Director of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering Program, and recognizing all staff members of the Alumni Affairs Unit -Ms. Walaa Farouk (Unit Director), Ms. Mai Ahmed, Ms. Nora Abu Khalil, Ms. Nesma El-Maghawry, and Mrs. Hanan Abdel Raouf in appreciation of their dedication, efforts, and the high quality of their service and smooth interaction with alumni. Student Ahmed Ali Abdel-Tawab, Level 400 in the Mechatronics Program, was also honored for achieving seventeen levels in Solid Works.
The Dean then proceeded to discuss the items on the agenda and make decisions on them in consultation with the esteemed members of the Faculty Council.
