Report on Engineering Water Day 2022
The Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, plays its expected educational, research and societal role, through which it has assumed a leading position by citing the amazing achievements that occurred in it, accredited study programs, and its uniqueness by owning distinguished centers of a special nature, research awards, student competitions, and a prestigious arrangement for arbitration of international scientific research journals.
In addition to the above, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty, assigned another role to the Faculty which is to play a patriotic role towards finding a solution or contributing to solving national problems, depending on what the Faculty of Engineering has achieved in the recent period in terms of the readiness of capabilities, not to mention the experience of its staff members.
The Dean of the Faculty insisted that the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, must contribute to providing viable solutions to solve the water problem, which is one of the priorities of important strategic national issues, according to the developments at the regional level, given that distinguished ideas are considered internal soft forces that are not less important than the power of external negotiating diplomacy.
Therefore, Mansoura Engineering hosted on Sunday, May 22, the activities of the "Engineering Water Day 2022" in Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan Hall, starting from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of the University, the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Dean of The Faculty, the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Secretariat of Prof. Dr. Kamal El-Nahhas, Head of the Water Sector, Suez Canal Authority, and the active participation of the largest companies working in the fields of water technology.
The ceremony began with playing the national anthem, then reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an.
A number of experienced officials in the field of water attended namely,
- Prof. Refaat Abdel Wahab, Professor of Water Treatment Technology at the National Research Center, who gave the first lecture in the opening session entitled “The Water Sector in Egypt: The Current Situation and Future Prospects.”
- Eng. Hassanein Al-Mamlouk, General Manager of IETOS, who delivered the second lecture in the opening session entitled “The Labor Market Needs in Water Field in the Private Sector.”
- Eng. Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wetco, who delivered the third lecture in the opening session entitled "Qualifying Skills for the Labor Market in the Field of Water Treatment."
- Eng. Khaled Nasr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company in Dakahlia.
- Dr. Ibrahim Khaled, a water desalination expert at Marsa Matrouh Company, who gave a lecture in the second session entitled “Water Desalination: Reality, Hope and Challenges”.
- Eng. Mahmoud Lotfy, an environmental consultant, who gave a presentation explaining the requirements of the labor market that must be met by graduates.
- Eng. Mustafa Al-Bakry, Executive Director of the Water House Company, who gave a presentation explaining the most important nature of work within the water companies and their departments in addition to the role assigned to each department within these companies.
At the end of the activities of the “Water Engineering Day 2022”, a competition was held among eleven student specialized in the fields of water purification, desalination and sewage treatment, in the presence of the jury headed by Dr. Hassanein Mamlouk General Manager of IETOS and eng. Mohamed Amer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wetco.
Five projects won, they were awarded prizes, which were presented by IETOS, the first three projects were granted financial awards.
The fourth and fifth projects, won scientific visits to work sites in different companies in distinguished places such as Ain Sukhna.
The activities of the Engineering Water Day 2022 ended at approximately 4:00 pm by distributing certificates of honor and appreciation.
