The Activities of the Field Awareness Campaign to Confront the Danger of Addiction and Abuse in the Faculty of Engineering

A field awareness campaign to confront the risk of addiction was conducted in The Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Abdel Basset, President of Mansoura University, the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meligy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Dean of the faculty and Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

The awareness campaign team was headed by Prof. Dr. Sahar El-Dakrory, Professor of Clinical Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine. Mr. Bilal Shaaban, Coordinator of Preventive Activities of the Addiction and Abuse Control Fund, Dakahlia Governorate, Mr. Islam Al-Bishlawy, head of the Addiction Control Unit in Dakahlia, a number of volunteers from the Addiction and Abuse Control Fund, and a number of faculty students. Awareness publications were distributed to students, a number of lectures were briefly delivered in a number of stands and student activities places. The most important dangers of addiction and abuse were clarified and the role of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse was defined in treatment and therapeutic channels for quitting smoking and addiction and treating drug misuse.

The campaign met with students, then moved to the technical workshops unit in the college and met with administrators and technicians working in the workshops unit. They were sensitized about the dangers of addiction and the role of the addiction control fund in treatment, and everyone’s questions and inquiries were answered.
