The Bibliotheca Alexandria has announced launching a major international cultural and intellectual award bearing its name, reflecting its esteemed status for the first time. The award, titled “Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Award,” is directed at innovators across various fields worldwide. It carries a monetary value of one million Egyptian pounds, along with a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation for the winner in a field determined annually.
Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, revealed that the award will be given to a prominent figure in pure sciences, applied sciences, literature, arts, social sciences, and humanities, provided they have made a distinguished scientific contribution to humanity. The award can also be granted to an institution that has made a significant contribution to the award’s theme.
For its first cycle in 2025, the award’s theme is “Applications of Green Technology to Achieve Welfare and Happiness for Humanity.” The deadline for nominations has been extended until the end of April 2025. The shortlist will be announced in May, and the winner will be determined by the end of June, with the award ceremony taking place in August.

Prof. Abeer Tawakol, Executive Director of Huawei Academy at the Faculty of Engineering, on the occasion of Huawei Academy, Mansoura University, being honored as one of the top five academies among government universities. This recognition was given during the Huawei ICT Conference, celebrating innovation and empowering young talent. Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakol was also honored as one of the top five directors of Huawei academies in government universities for her outstanding role in refining students’ skills and training them in advanced technologies, aligning with local and global job market requirements.

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, inaugurated the Third Engineering Forum for Employment and Graduates in Prof. Dr. Magdy Abu Rayan auditorium, Faculty of Engineering. The forum runs from February 23 to 24, 2025, under his patronage and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, with organization by Prof. Dr. Amira Yassin Haikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Engineer Abdel Rahman Omar, Director of the Graduate Follow-up Unit. Faculty members and staff from the Faculty of Engineering are also participating.
Prof. Khater praised the significant role of the Faculty of Engineering within the university and commended the forum for facilitating knowledge exchange between engineering students and graduates with industrial companies, while also addressing labor market needs.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim highlighted Prof. El-Badawy’s efforts in organizing the forum and expressed his personal pride in being part of the Faculty of Engineering. He emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between academic studies and practical training in line with the Sustainable Development Plan 2023.
Prof. Amira Yassin Haikal expressed her gratitude to all attendees and outlined the forum’s goal of providing training and job opportunities for students and graduates while fostering relationships between the Faculty of Engineering and external institutions.
Eng. Abdel Rahman Omar discussed the role of the Graduate Follow-up Unit in enhancing communication with alumni and helping them navigate employment challenges.
Eng. Mona Al-Zaini from the General Engineers Syndicate conveyed her best wishes for all engineering students and graduates, emphasizing collaboration with the college to support young graduates in finding competitive job opportunities.
At the end of the opening session, both Prof. Khater and Prof. Abdel-Azim were honored. Sponsoring companies were also recognized, including gold sponsors like Intilaq Company and Power Cem, as well as silver and bronze sponsors.
The event concluded with an opening ceremony for a company exhibition held alongside the forum.
The Faculty Council meeting No. (601) was held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the College Council meeting room. The session was chaired by Professor Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by the faculty ’s vice-deans, heads of academic departments, directors of specialized programs, emeritus professors, and representatives from various companies as members of the external community.
Professor Sherif El-Badawy opened the session by welcoming all attendees, emphasizing the importance of commitment and seriousness as the second semester begins, aiming to achieve everything that benefits our students.
• He offered his condolences to all those from the faculty or their relatives who have passed away, praying for mercy and forgiveness for them.
• He congratulated the faculty members who were promoted, wishing them success and also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the faculty members who previously managed these positions.
• He highlighted the most important activities that took place at the faculty recently, such as: the third call for the Internal Fund Project at the Faculty of Engineering, a visit from a delegation of Sinop University from Turkey, the Global Innovations Festival, congratulations to the college team that qualified for the final competitions at the Youth Creativity Festival of universities, congratulations to the Mansoura Robotics team for winning first place, congratulations to students who won graduation projects from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for the academic year 2024-2025.
• He presented the status of academic results for the academic year 2024-2025, as well as annual citation metrics concerning total scientific research and downloads.
• He emphasized the necessity for all attendees, including members of the faculty council and all faculty and assisting staff, to participate in the employment forum which will take place next week, explaining that this important event is attributed to the Faculty of Engineering at Mansoura University, a prestigious institution with a rich history; thus, everyone must collaborate to present the employment forum in a manner befitting the college’s name.
Prof. Dr. Amira Yassin Heikal, the Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, briefly discussed the latest updates regarding the Employment and Graduates Forum, scheduled to take place on February 23 and 24. She clarified the forum’s objectives, the participating companies, and what these companies will offer in terms of collaboration with the college.
At the end of the presentation, Prof. El- Badawy honored:
Assoc. Prof. Reda Diab and Assoc. Prof. Hany Mohany for their tenure as Deputy Directors of the Construction and Sustainable Architecture programs; Dr. Alaa Abdel Ghani from the Department of Production Engineering and Mechanical Design for her role as Coordinator of the Mechatronics postgraduate program; and congratulated Dr. Walid Shaaban for taking on this new responsibility. Additionally, Eng. Amal El-Sayed, Secretary of the Communications and Computer Engineering program, was recognized for her outstanding performance.
Finally, he moved on to discuss the agenda items and make decisions regarding them with esteemed members of the faculty council.

As part of Prof. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, directives focusing on external community engagement, which includes interacting with pre-university education, Prof. Amira Yassin Haikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, welcomed a trip from STEM School in Kafr El-Sheikh on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The students and trip supervisors were received in the hall of Prof. El-Sayed Ashour at the faculty, where they were welcomed and given an overview of the faculty, its academic departments, special programs, labs, and other notable facilities.
Then, Prof. Ahmed Eid received the students in the Solar Energy Lab, explaining the concept of renewable and sustainable energy, its types, generation, storage, uses, and introducing some of the equipment in the lab. The students also visited other labs, where they were briefed by Eng. Abeer El-Toukhy, Director of the Labs Unit, about the unique labs at the college that support educational and research processes.
Finally, Eng. Hassan Wahid welcomed the students to the Fluid Mechanics Lab, explaining its role and introducing them to the equipment and their functions. The students toured the college to explore its facilities, and at the end, they and their supervisors expressed gratitude for the valuable information and thanked the college administration and staff for their cooperation.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering updated its agreement with the University of Louisville in the United States. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Dr. Essam El-Kurdy, President of Alamein International University, and Professor Paul Hoffman, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Louisville.
Prof. Khater emphasized that this agreement aims to enhance research and scientific collaboration between Egypt and the U.S., aligning with Mansoura University’s goal to establish joint degrees with prestigious global universities as part of Egypt’s 2023 vision for higher education.
Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, noted that this cooperation protocol would allow students to earn dual degrees from both Mansoura University and the University of Louisville upon completion of their studies. The agreement includes several benefits for students, such as internship opportunities during their studies and preparation for job placements after graduation. Furthermore, both universities will collaborate on continuous education and development.
Prof. Hoffman highlighted that the agreement would facilitate exchanges between faculty members and students from both institutions, thereby strengthening cooperation in scientific and research fields. There are also hopes for a future agreement focused on graduate studies between the two universities.
The event saw a large turnout in the auditorium named after Dr. Magdy Abu Rayan, where important topics were discussed regarding joint specialized programs and supporting the capabilities of students and researchers at both universities to ultimately enhance academic and research outcomes.
