Report on the Workshop titled: “The Effective Employee in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals”
As part of the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University’s keenness to raise awareness among its staff and enhance their role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, a workshop was held today, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM, titled: “The Effective Employee in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals,” in Prof. El-Saeed Ashour conference room.
The workshop was organized under the supervision of Prof. Amira Yasen Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, with the participation of Prof. Mervat Abu El-Kheir, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the faculty.
The workshop presenter was Dr. Mohamed Riyad El-Bayoumi, Director of Crisis Management at Mansoura University and a certified government excellence evaluator from the Ministry of Planning, in the presence of faculty administrative staff members.
Workshop Topics:
The workshop addressed several important topics and axes, including:
1. Clarifying the concept of sustainable development through:
• A general definition and historical background of sustainable development and its economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
• Explaining the importance of sustainable development in achieving intergenerational equity, improving quality of life, ensuring social and political stability, and enhancing resource use efficiency.
2. The difference between traditional development and sustainable development by:
• Comparing their goals, the time frame for achieving each, environmental impact, justice, and their effects on future generations.
3. Sustainable development goals in Egypt by explaining:
• How to achieve the 17 sustainable development goals according to Egypt’s Vision 2030.
• The main challenges facing Egypt in achieving sustainable development, such as rapid population growth, climate change, and funding gaps, and ways to overcome these challenges.
4. The role of the employee in supporting sustainable development by:
• Rationalizing consumption of resources such as paper and energy.
• Improving job performance and commitment to deadlines.
• Supporting digital transformation and working with team spirit.
• Encouraging innovation in solving daily problems.
Workshop Objectives:
• Raising employees’ awareness of the importance of sustainable development and its goals.
• Enhancing the employee’s role in applying sustainability principles within the work environment.
• Presenting practical models that illustrate how to participate effectively in achieving development goals.
The workshop concluded at 12:30 PM.
