Scientific research plays a vital role in developing industry. It contributes to the discovery of new technologies, improving the quality of products, enhancing production efficiency, in addition to improving the use of industrial processes and reducing negative environmental impacts. From this standpoint, Mansoura University has paid attention to the importance of linking scientific research to societal issues, through developing the system of scientific research and scientific activities in addition to activating the mechanisms of its research work. Paying attention to issues related to development, presenting the results of scientific research, and developing appropriate solutions to all the obstacles it faces.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Masoud, interim dean of the faculty and the leadership of both Professor Dr. Sahar Sedqi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Amira Yasin Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, a pioneer scientific competition was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) and the Mechatronics Engineering Program (MTE), on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs attended the event. The competition was held at the Faculty of Engineering - Mansoura University under the title “Technology Clash”, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Tawakkol, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program and Director of the Technological Innovations Unit, Innovators Support Fund at Mansoura University, with the participation of Professor Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Director of the Mechatronics Program and a number of distinguished faculty members. The competition’s main aim is to enhance interaction and scientific exchange between the faculty’s departments and programs, build strong scientific bridges and integrate them in the field of engineering work in the future. The competition was characterized by the active participation of a large number of students, the atmosphere was full of enthusiasm and optimism. The training program offered by the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department to serve school and university students during the mid-year vacation.
Professor Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the results of the Spanish “Webometrics” classification for reference citations in the January 2024 edition, noting that Egyptian universities have achieved remarkable progress in the results of the classification, which is based on university websites, and the rate of citations to scientific research published internationally, based on Google Scholar (Google Scholar) for citations of international research.
The results of the classification showed that Mansoura University top lead the list of Egyptian universities in the classification with a number of citations amounting to (636,435) reference citations, and Cairo University came in second place at the level of Egyptian universities with a number of citations amounting to (614,454), followed by Ain Shams University with a number of citations amounting to (555,023).
The Minister pointed out that these results confirm the remarkable progress achieved by Egyptian universities in the international classifications of universities and research centers, noting that the advancement of Egyptian universities in international classifications is one of the files that receives the support and attention of the political leadership, stressing that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is making a continuous effort. In following up on the implementation of the mandates of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, by encouraging international scientific publishing and providing technical support to Egyptian universities and research institutions; Which contributes to its advancement in international classifications.
For his part, Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, confirmed that this progress in the Spanish classification “Webometrics” confirms Egypt’s scientific reputation and is due to the university’s strategy of supporting international publishing, promoting and developing scientific research and increasing its funding, as well as cooperation with researchers from various countries of the world. This comes in line with Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education.
It is worth noting the adoption of the Spanish Webometrics classification for reference citations on university websites, and the rate of citations to scientific research published internationally, based on Google Scholar for citations to international research.

on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, to discuss ways of cooperation in scientific research and the establishment of dual study programs in the 2+2 system, where the student studies for (2) academic years in one of the two universities and the other (2) at the second university so that the student obtains a dual degree from both universities.

Prof. Sherif indicated that study programs and scientific research must be directed to meet the requirements of the labor market and challenges as well as contributing to maximizing production, economics, and transforming scientific research into a real product that has a strong economic impact on our countries.
At the end of the meeting, the Iraqi delegation expressed its great happiness at the warm reception, the momentum and enrichment of the welcome, and the full readiness to resume and activate the stages of cooperation.
