Report on the College Council No. (607)

College Council Meeting No. (607) was held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the College Council Meeting Hall. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the College, with the attendance of the Vice Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, a number of emeritus faculty members, and representatives from external community institutions.
The session was opened by Prof. El-Badawy, who:
• Offered condolences on the passing of the brother of the university president as well as to all deceased members of the college community by name.
• Praised the role of the current College Council members during the academic year 2024/2025, expressing thanks to all for their outstanding efforts, and wished success and guidance for the formation of the next College Council.
• Expressed gratitude and appreciation to the former heads of the College Council and directors of specific programs whose terms have ended, acknowledging their significant contributions; congratulated the heads of departments and program directors whose terms were renewed; and offered full support, congratulations, and encouragement to the newly appointed heads of departments and program directors.
• Spoke about the visit of the Huawei company delegation to the college, emphasizing its important and valuable impact on the educational process for faculty members, supporting staff, and students.
• Mentioned the visit of some faculty members from Erasmus related to the Architecture Department.
• Highlighted most of the recent community activities that add real value to faculty members, assisting staff, students, and alumni, such as the Asia to Japan seminar, a workshop on sustainable architecture focusing on architectural modeling and shadow studies, the “Effective Employee in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals” workshop, an introductory meeting for specific programs, and a “Resala Association” seminar.
• Reported the renewal of nine ISO certificates based on recent training and evaluations.
• Addressed the graduation ceremony held for the class of 2024/2025.
• Talked about the celebration organizing for children of faculty and staff members who passed their secondary school, Al-Azhar, or technical diplomas this year.
• Clarified the procedures regarding the annual citation index of Mansoura Engineering journal.
• Congratulated Prof. Mohamed Farhat from the Mathematics and Engineering Physics Department for his appointment as Secretary of the Basic Sciences Research Council; congratulated Assoc. Prof. Ahmad Mostafa Hussein Askar for his promotion to Associate Professor in the Production and Mechanical Design Engineering Department; congratulated Dr. Mahmoud Sami Abdel Ghaffar from the Public Works Engineering Department for winning the State Incentive Award for 2024; congratulated the Engineering College team for achieving third place and the gold medal in the Egyptian Programming Competition for University Youth (ECPC), including students: Kareem Mohamed Fathy, Mohamed El-Sherif, and Hamed Mohamed Hamed; and congratulated the POPEYE team for winning sixth place in the unmanned marine vehicles competition organized by the Military Technical College.
• Then the honors began, where Prof. Sherif El-Badawy and Prof. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, honored Prof. Sahar Sedky, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, for her outstanding role and active participation during her term by presenting the college shield and a certificate of appreciation. They also honored Dr. Hassan Abouelnaga for winning the international Water Drop Award 2025 in the water field; honored Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa on his appointment as Dean of the Artificial Intelligence College at Horus University; honored Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Gamal for his term as head of the Mathematics and Engineering Physics Department; honored Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakkol, director of the Artificial Intelligence program, for her student team “CodeCraft” winning first place in the ninth international competition at the Military Technical College, with team members Mohamed Ahmed Abdelazim (Artificial Intelligence program), Mohamed Tarek and Ahmed Nabil (Electronics and Communications Department); honored Assoc. Prof. Hala Bahaa El-Din for acceptance of a research abstract from a graduation project at the ninth international conference of the Military Technical College IUGRCG (2025); honored Assoc. Prof. Hanan Mohamed Abdel Fattah for supervising the acceptance of a published research paper derived from the graduation project prepared by student Ahmed Ali Abdel Tawab; honored student Tarek Mohamed Fathy from the Mechanical Power Engineering Department for winning the silver medal at the African Karate Championship – Abuja, Nigeria 2025, as part of the Egyptian national team in men’s Kata team; Ms. Rasha Ahmed and Ms. Marwa Abdel-Moaty from the Student Affairs Department, Specific Programs, were appreciated for their outstanding efforts.
• The Dean then moved to discuss the agenda topics and decisions with the esteemed College Council members. The Dean, Vice Deans, and the College Council members took a group photo to document this occasion, marking the last session of the current council for the academic year 2024/2025, with the formation of a new council scheduled for the beginning of the next academic year 2025/2026.
