Report on the Faculty Council No. (608)
The 608th meeting of the College Council was held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the College Council meeting hall, under the chairmanship of Professor Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the College, with the attendance of the college visitors, vice deans, heads of academic departments, directors of specific programs, and representatives from some external community institutions.
The session was opened by Prof. El-Badawy, who:
- Congratulated Prof. Mohamed Hassan Mansour on his appointment as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
- Extended congratulations to the newly appointed members of the College Council for the academic year 2025/2026, urging them to exert their utmost efforts and wishing them full success. He also thanked the former council members for their dedication and hard work during their tenure.
- Expressed thanks to the council members representing some external community institutions, namely: Eng. Ibrahim Hassanein, Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Dakahlia, Eng. Ahmed Ramadan, Chairman of the Board of North Delta Electricity Distribution Company, and Eng. Khaled Nasr, Chairman of the Board of Dakahlia Water and Wastewater Company.
- Congratulated all attendees on the occasion of the new academic year 2025/2026.
- Offered condolences on the passing of: Prof. Tawfiq Al-Maidany, Department of Production and Mechanical Design Engineering; Dr. Nashaat Abu Al-Maaty, the uncle of Prof. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Mr. Mohamed Abdel Ghani, father of Ms. Marwa Abdel Ghani, and Ms. Sara Abdel Ghani; and the mother of Mr. Othman Saad.
- Congratulated all faculty members who assumed administrative positions at the college and those whose terms were renewed to continue in their roles.
- Spoke about the launch of the first training event of the initiative "A New Beginning for Quality Assurance in Education."
- Congratulated the Mansoura Robotics team and student Mahmoud Ibrahim for achieving first place nationwide in their scientific competition.
- Thanked Dr. Mahmoud Saad, Director of the Center for Technical, Laboratory, and Scientific Services, for his efforts in the comprehensive training program for the delegation from the College of Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University in Iraq.
- Discussed the hosting of the delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University at the college.
- Congratulated the "Breaking Point" team participating in the Creativity and Innovation Forum held at the Faculty of Science, Cairo University.
- Expressed appreciation to AP. Abeer Tawakkul, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program, for the activities of the seventh season of Techno Kids for children, in cooperation with her team and the Center for Technical, Laboratory, and Scientific Services, which provided valuable information on the introduction to artificial intelligence programming and presentation skills.
- Commented on the signing of a cooperation protocol between the college and the Engineers Syndicate at the college.
- Recounted the proceedings of the seminar on "Visual Identity at Mansoura University" held at the college.
- Expressed pride and appreciation for faculty members, assistants, and postgraduate students for obtaining funded research projects from prestigious local and international institutions, continuing the scientific and research excellence path of the college and university over the last three years.
- Clarified the academic cooperation between the college and Al-Ain University in Iraq.
- Addressed several important internal issues of the college to inform attendees about current affairs, including: postgraduate entrance exams; the status of accreditation for the three new programs (Sustainable Architecture Engineering, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering).
-Praised efforts by faculty, assistants, and postgraduate students who contributed to publishing over 1500 scientific papers aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the past three years.
-Mentioned the workshop held at the BIM laboratory concerning a training program running for two weeks under the auspices of the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, dedicated to computer and communications students.
-Briefed attendees on preparations for the new academic year; the first orientation day held for specific programs’ students; the committee for welcoming new students scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Prof. Magdy Abu Riyan Hall
-Talked about submission for the Government Excellence Award; the status of academic schedules for the new year; maintenance works across college facilities including laboratories and structural areas; landscaping and green spaces coordination; cabinets and painting for some areas; readiness of the medical clinic for student medical examinations; planning of the volleyball court; maintenance and painting of the technical office and strategic planning unit; air conditioning units installed in several locations such as the architecture hall, physics lab, and chemistry lab; updates and finishings for the central student building; status and results of the summer semester; and annual citation impact factor for the college’s journal in terms of total publications and downloads.
In conclusion, the Dean moved to discuss the agenda items and decisions to be taken with the respected council members.
