Report on the Faculty Council Meeting No. 606

The 606th meeting of the faculty council was held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the Faculty Council Meeting Hall, chaired by Prof. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, Dean of the faculty, and attended by the Vice Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, Directors of Specific Programs, and a number of emeritus faculty members.
The session was opened by Prof. Sherif Masoud El-Badawy, who:

- Praised the seriousness and commitment shown throughout the past academic year, during both the study period and exams.
- Extended congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution.
- Offered condolences to the families of those among the college staff who passed away, and delivered eulogies on the death of student Ahmed Farouk, fourth year, Electrical Engineering Department.
- Congratulated Prof. Ayman El-Tahrany, Director of the Soil and Foundations Laboratory, on the visit of the accreditation renewal team for the laboratory.
- Congratulated Dr. Hassan Abu Al-Naga on winning the international Water Drop Award 2025 in the field of water.
- Congratulated the selections announced by the President of the Housing and Building Research Center, naming Prof. Alaa Rashad as Secretary of the Subcommittee for Part Six and member of the Committee for Part Nine, and Prof. Ahmed Metwally as a member of the Code Committee for Part Six.
(Notably, Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the faculty, was appointed Chair of the Code Committee.)
- Congratulated Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Saeed, Electrical Engineering Department on his promotion to Professorship.
- Emphasized the importance of registering for the Alexandria Hackathon on Quantum Computing at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
- Presented highlights of the Delta Region Universities Summit for Sustainable Development: From Challenge to Launch, which was held at the Faculty of Engineering.
- Showcased the honors held at the college on the occasion of staff reaching retirement age.
- Discussed the seventh scientific meeting of the Structural Engineering Department, which took place at the Simulation Laboratory.
- Expressed gratitude to Dr. Mohamed El-Manzlawy for his tenure as head of the Biomedical Engineering program.
- Shared thanks received from the President of Al Ain University, Iraq, to faculty members: Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakul, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program; Assoc. Prof. Mahmoud Saafan, Director of the Intilaq Company; and Dr. Ahmed Nader Sheta from the Electrical Engineering Department for their cooperation and review in aligning the AI program between the two universities’ engineering faculties.
- Reiterated congratulations to Dr. Hassan Abu Al-Naga, a graduate of Mansoura Engineering, for winning the international Water Drop Award 2025.
- Congratulated the student team "Carbonless" for achieving third place among 50 start-up companies in the third season of the StartUp Power competition.
- Invited all attendees to participate in the Faculty of Engineering graduation ceremony, scheduled for August 3, 2025, at 8:00 PM, at the university’s Olympic Village secondary stadium.
- Announced the reopening of the online portal for submitting applications for scientific publication incentives for research published during the academic year 2024/2025.
- Outlined the faculty’s participation in the TOT workshops related to establishing the Integrated Water Resources Management program at the University of Cologne, Germany.
- Reviewed and discussed the student major classification status.
- Presented the annual activity report of the college for the academic year 2024/2025.
- Discussed and selected the members of the committees derived from the University Council for the academic year 2024/2025.
- Commented on the distinguished standing achieved by the college’s Engineering Journal.
- Urged commitment and diligence in finalizing student grades promptly.
- Honored Prof. Dr. Mohamed Farhat Osman, Department of Engineering Mathematics and Engineering Physics for his election as a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS) in the field of engineering and applied sciences.

Finally, Prof. El-Badawy proceeded to discuss the agenda items and make decisions on them with the esteemed members of the College Council.
