Mansoura University’s Faculty of Engineering Holds Huawei ICT Conference
The Faculty of Engineering at Mansoura University organized the Huawei ICT Conference on Monday, October 20, 2025, in Prof. Magdy Abu Rayan Hall, as part of its commitment to fostering digital excellence, supporting Huawei Academy students, and preparing them to meet the demands of digital transformation and the global labor market. The event was held at 1:00 p.m. in the presence of distinguished faculty members and representatives of Huawei International.
Among the attendees were Prof. Amira Yassin Hiekal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Prof. Mohamed Hassan Mansour, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakul, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program and Huawei Academy at Mansoura University; and Assoc. Prof. Islam Ismail, Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program. The event also welcomed Huawei representatives: Eng. Asmaa Serag, Executive Director of the Training Sector at Huawei Academies Egypt; Eng. Mirna Sherif, Academic Development Officer; and Eng. Amani Sayed, Academic Development Officer.
The conference opened with remarks from Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakul, who highlighted the vision and objectives of Huawei Academy, emphasizing its role in equipping youth with modern digital skills and enhancing their capabilities in communications and information technology. She shared success stories of Mansoura University students and the Academy’s achievements over the years, noting that it has become a pioneering platform for preparing young talent capable of competing locally and globally.
Prof. Tawakul extended her gratitude to the Academy’s dedicated trainers and distinguished students who were honored during the event, commending their creativity, hard work, and commitment.
In his address, Prof. Mohamed Hassan Mansour welcomed the attendees and underscored the importance of productive collaboration between Mansoura University and Huawei in training and employment. He praised the Academy’s contributions to expanding career horizons for engineering students.
Presentations delivered by Huawei Academy representatives covered several technical topics related to the Academy’s training programs, including:
- Huawei ICT Competition: A global competition in Information and Communication Technology organized annually by Huawei for university students worldwide.
- Innovation Competition: A program encouraging students to propose innovative technological solutions.
- Study Tracks: Specialized learning paths in Networking, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing.
- Milestones: Major achievements in the Academy’s journey and the success stories of participating students.
The presentations also demonstrated registration and training procedures through the Academy’s online platform (How to register? – How to study? – How do students participate?), highlighting remarkable success stories of Mansoura University students who have excelled in regional and international contests. This year’s competition included over 960,000 participants from 2,000 universities across 100 countries.
A special segment of the event featured a video honoring outstanding Academy students, including: Eng. Amir Shetiah, a Mansoura Engineering graduate who now works at Huawei Academy in Canada. The top-performing students in the Academy’s training programs and competitions were also recognized.

The conference concluded with a group photo featuring faculty leaders, Huawei representatives, and honored students, reflecting a sense of pride in the accomplishments of Mansoura University’s engineering students and reaffirming the solid partnership between the university and Huawei.
The event spotlighted the outstanding efforts of Assoc. Prof. Abeer Tawakul in advancing student engagement and international collaboration. Under her leadership, Huawei Academy at Mansoura University has become an integrated training platform that combines academic study with practical experience, empowering students to connect with leading global technology organizations. Her work stands as a model for community service and youth development in line with Egypt’s national vision for digital transformation and youth empowerment in communications and information technology.
