A Report on the Activities of the “University Parliament from Education to Application” Initiative

 On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, one of the activities of the “University Parliament from Education to Application” initiative took place at the Faculty of Engineering in Prof. Dr. Rashad El-Badrawy Conference Hall, at eleven o’clock in the morning, lectured by Counselor Raafat Sobhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Councils, Head of the Parliament’s Sectors, and the parliamentary expert. The event took place under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedki, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Amira Yassin, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, coordinated by AP. D. Shaima Abdel Wahab, Faculty of Education, AP. Dr. Muhammad Sabry Saraya, Student Activities Coordinator, and the rapporteur of the initiative, Dr. Amani Al-Hadidi, Supervisor of Mansoura University Parliament, and organized by Mr. Ahmed. Al-Ashry, Director of the General Administration for Student Welfare.
The initiative’s activities aimed to clarify a number of axes, namely: political education, legal education, and security education. The lecturer of the symposium, clarified a number of important topics, such as: what the constitution is, what the laws are, the conditions for drawing up the constitution, how to enact laws, and clarifying the role of both Parliament and Shoura Council, the difference between each, and the mechanisms or steps that are followed to change the constitution or laws, clarifying the role of the Egyptian people in the stage of amending the constitution. He also encouraged practicing national participation through Egyptian parliamentary life.
